Oversized chess decor with a simple silhouette, deep matte-black finish and enough scale to hold a mantel, hearth or shelf.
The result
The job was not to make a chess set. It was to take the king and queen - two instantly recognisable forms - and turn them into a pair of display objects with weight, height and a clean outline.
It is the kind of thing we love making: taking a familiar idea and making it physical at a size and finish a normal shop is unlikely to carry.
The approach
The pieces use classic turned profiles so they read clearly from across a room. The finish is kept deliberately restrained: deep black, hand-finished, and made to sit with furniture rather than shout over it.
The XL size is the boldest version currently on sale. Smaller sizes keep the same form for shelves and desks; XL is the one for a stronger room feature.
Why it matters
This started as a one-off, not a mass-produced line. Made properly once, it is now offered made-to-order for anyone who wants the same piece.
The Workshop Process
A view into our process: planning the model parts in the slicer software, printing raw pieces, and final assembly.
Objects where scale, silhouette and finish matter more than precise mechanical fit.
The same approach can carry trophies, plaques, themed awards and custom display objects.
Decorative pieces are a fit. Structural, medical or vehicle-safety parts are not.
